LEA Lab Quiz 3 Muscles Flashcards
Origin of the Bicep Femoris
Long Head: inferomedial aspect of posterior ischial tuberosity (w/ semitendoinosus)
Short Head: inferior 2/3 of lateral lip of linea aspera and supracondylar line
insertion of the bicep femoris
lateral aspect fibular head
fibular collateral ligament (LCL)
lateral tibial condyle
innervation of the bicep femoris
Long head: Tibial nerve (of sciatic)
short head: Common fibular (of sciatic)
function of bicep femoris
extend thigh (not the short head- doesn't cross the hip) flex knee (leg) laterally rotate the knee
Origin of Semitendinosus
sacrotuberous ligament
Inferiomedial asepct of posterior ischial tuberosity (w long head)
insertion of the semitendinosus
proximal medial tibia (pes anserinus) [palpable here when contracted)
function of the semitensinosus
extend thigh
flex and medially rotate the knee
innervation of the hamstring muscles
tibial part of sciatic
origin of semimembranosus
superolateral aspect of posterior ischial tuberosity
insertion of semimembranosus
- groove on posterior aspect of medial tibial condyle
- fascia over popliteus muscle
function of semimembranosus
extend the thigh
flex and medially rotate leg (tendon palpable)
popliteus origin
lateral femoral condyle (popliteal groove)
lateral meniscus
knee joint capsule
popliteus insertion
superior to soleal line (tibia)
nerve to popliteus
tibial nerve
blood supply to the popliteus
posterior tibial and medial inferior genicular.
