Ldr's And Thermistors Flashcards
1
Q
What is an LDR ?
A
A light dependant resistor- it is a resistor that is dependant on the light intensity
2
Q
What happens the the resistance (LDR) when the light is bright?
A
The resistance falls
3
Q
What is a thermistor ?
A
A resistor dependant on temperature
4
Q
What happens the the resistance (thermistor) when temperature decreases?
A
Resistance increases
5
Q
When are thermistors and LDRs used?
A
In Sensing circuits -e.g. As the room gets hotter the resistance of thermister decreases and it takes a smaller share of the potential difference from the power supply so the potential difference across the fixed resistor and the fan rises making the fan go faster.
