Senna dosage
7.5–15 mg daily (max. per dose 30 mg daily), dose usually taken at bedtime; initial dose should be low then gradually increased, higher doses may be prescribed under medical supervision.
it takes 8-12 hours to work.
stimulant laxatives are only given if bulk forming laxatives like
senna side effects
Albuminuria- too much albumin in the blood which can be a sign of kidney disease
can cause hypokeleania - low potassium
prolonged use can cause heamaturia- blood in the urine
Senna dosage
Adult
5–10 mg once daily; increased if necessary up to 20 mg once daily, dose to be taken at night.
By rectum
Child 2–17 years
5–10 mg once daily, adjusted according to the response.
Adult
10 mg once daily, dose to be taken in the morning.
Sodium docusate dose
500mg- adjusted depending on response and takes 1/2 days to work
Rectal dose- 120mg and takes 20 minutes

Side effects of sodium docusate
abdominal cramps
nausea
rash
Glycerol dose
4g- make it moist with water before inserting it.
Lactulose dose
Can take 48 hours to act and should take 15 ml twice a day.
