Laws Flashcards
Newtons 1st Law of motion
If and only if, the forces acting on an object are balanced, the object will remain in a state of uniform motion.
Newtons 2nd Law of motion
The acceleration of an object is in the direction of the net force acting on it, is directly proportional to the net force, and is inversely proportional to the mass of the object
State Newton’s third law of motion
If one object exerts an action object on a second object, the first object will exert a reaction force on the first object which is equal in magnitude but opposite in direction when compared to the action force
State Newtons Law of universal gravitation
Any two objects in the universe exert an attractive force on each other which is directly proportional to their masses and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them
State kirkoff’s voltage law
The algebraic sum of the potential differences across any closed loop in an electric circuit is equal to zero
State Kirkoff’s current law
At any junction in an electric circuit, the total current flowing into the junction is equal to the total current flowing out
State the principle of superposition
If two or more wave pulses meet at the same point in the medium, the resulting displacement of the medium from its equilibrium position is equal to the sum of the displacements of the individual wave pulses.
State the work energy theorem
The total work done by non-conservative forces is equal to the change in the total mechanical energy of a system of masses
