Amending Formula
The Amending Formula is the procedure that occurs when the government needs to change the constitution.
Bill
A Bill is proposed legislation which could become a law if it gets approved by the house of commons and the senate.
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
A section of the constitution Act, 1982, which sets out constitutionally protected rights and freedoms
Civil liberities
civil liberties Basic individual rights protected by law, such as freedom of speech.
Executive branch
The Executive branch is the administrative branch of government responsible for carrying out the government’s plans and policies

The federal system of government is a two-level system of government. With the second system being provincial
government or public bill

this is the branch of government responsible for presiding over Canada’s court system.
Legislative branch
The branch of government that has the power to make, change, and repeal laws.
“intra vires”
To be within the power of government to pass laws.
“ultra vires”
To be beyond the power of government to make laws.
Lobby Groups
Lobby groups are people who try to influence legislations in favor of their cause.
Patriate
To bring legislative power under the authority of the country to which it applies.
Principle of Equalization
Section 36 of the constitution act, 1982, which provides for equal access to essential services for all Canadians.
Private Members Bill
Legislation proposed by an MP who is not in the cabinet
