Law Of Motion Flashcards
What is the 2nd law?
Force equals mass times acceleration
F=m•a
What is the 3rd law?
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
What is inertia?
The tendency of an object to resist changes in to velocity: whether in motion or not
What force do we not see?
Friction
What’re the 4 main types of friction?
Sliding type (ice skating)
Rolling friction (bowling)
Fluid friction (air or water resistance)
Static friction (ignition friction when moving an object)
What is the equation for the 2nd law?
F=m•a
What is the net force of an object equal to?
The product of its mass and acceleration or f=ma
What is the acceleration when mass is in kilograms
M/s^2 and the unit of force is in newtons
What does newtons 2nd law prove?
The different masses accelerate to the earth at the same rate, but with different forces
What do objects with different masses accelerate to the ground?
At the same rate
If two objects have different masses would the hit at the same time?
No
What is the 1st law of motion
An object at rest will stay at rest
An object in motion sill stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force
