What is the function of the heart?
To transport materials around the body.
What is the membrane covering the heart called?
Paricardium
Outer Layer

What does the Pulmonary System do?
Carries de-oxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs, then it comes out oxygenated blood.
What does the systemic circulatory do?
Carries oxygenated blood throughout the body.
How many valves does the heart have? And what are they called?
4; AV valves and Pulmonary semilunar valves
How much blood does the heart pump each day?
6,000 quarts
What two systems regulate the heart?
Autonomic nervous system and the Nodal system.
What is the cardiac cycle?
One complete heart beat;
Systole-contraction
Diastole-relaxation
What is the bum-bump sound?
First sound- AV valves closing
Second sound- semilunar valves closing
What is a pulse?
The expansion and reaction of the arteries do to the heart beat
What is blood pressure?
The amount of pressure that is exerted against the inner walls of your blood vessels.
