Law of conservation of mass Flashcards
1
Q
state the Law of Conservation of mass in chemical reactions
A
The Law of conservation of mass states that matter can neither be created or destroyed.
2
Q
Describe how to do an experiment to show the Law of conservation of mass
A
In chemical reactions, mass is neither gained nor lost. The total mass of the reactants equals the total mass of all the products.
Example: When 4 grams of hydrogen gas reacts with 32 grams of oxygen gas, 36 grams of water vapour is produced (4 + 32).
Hydrogen + oxygen → water
4g + 32g → _____g
3
Q
do mass calculations based on the Law of Conservation of mass
A
