a system of rules that are enforced to govern behavior
What is Ethics?
A moral philosophy of values
Who writes the laws?
The federal government (U.S, Constitution) State Legislatures, Administrative Agencies
What is a statute?
Law made by Legislatures or Federal Government
The Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act is an example of what type of Law?
A Federal statute
What is an ordinance?
Law set in place by a County or local governing body
What is an Administrative Agency?
a board of people that make laws within the scope of the board
What are some examples of administrative agencies?
Centers of Medicaid and Medicare Services; Food and Drug Administration; Federal Trade Comission; Drug Enforcement Agency; Department of Regulatory Affairs
What do Administrative Agencies do?
interprate regulations within their area, and relate to public health, safety or welfare; enforce with judicial functions
What is common law?
Court made law from two parties who can’t agree on a matter.
What is precedent?
Judicial opinnion made into common law, the proceed over all courts of lower level.
What is Criminal Action?
Any wrongful action against an exsisting statute
What is the purpose of Criminal Action?
Sanction, fine or imprison to deter and punish and rehabilitate wrong doer.
What is Civil Action?
Wrongful action on an exisiting statute that results in personal injury.
What is Administrative Action?
Wrongful action that requires investigation or a hearing
