How long before the scheduled start of play does an umpire need to arrive?
At least 45 mins
What is determined in the consultation with the captains?
The balls that will be used, times of intervals, which clock will be used as a time reference, boundary line, the use of covers, any special conditions affecting the playing conditions of the match, inform the scorers
What needs to happen before the toss?
See the wickets are properly pitched, creases are correctly marked and the boundary line complies with regulations
What piece of equipment needs checking?
The wicket keepers gloves
Who checks on the pitch during intervals?
The umpires only
What does the square leg umpire have to do before moving to the off side?
Inform the captain of the fielding side, striker and other umpire
When are signals repeated to the scorer?
When the ball is dead
Signal for award 5 penalty runs to the batting side
Tapping the opposite shoulder
Signal for 5 penalty runs to the fielding side
Placing a hand on the opposite shoulder
Signal for the commencement of the last hour
By pointing to a raised wrist with the other hand
Signal of new ball
Holding the ball above the head
Signal of short run
Bending the arm upwards and pointing the fingers on the near shoulder
What do the level 3 and 4 player conduct signals have to be?
Have both parts be acknowledged by the scorer/s
Level 3 conduct signal
Pt.1 = putting on arm out to the side of the body and repeatedly raising and lowering it.
Pt.2 = By raising both hands, all fingers spread, to shoulder height, palms facing towards the scorer/s
Level 4 conduct signal
Pt.1 = same as LVL3
PT.2 = by raising and index finger at shoulder height to the side of the body
