What should the field surface be?
Wholly natural.
OR, wholly artificial/a hybrid combination where competition rules allow.
Artificial surfaces must be green.
What are the two longer boundary lines called?
Touchlines
What are the two shorter boundary lines called?
Goal lines
What is the radius of the circle around the centre mark?
9.15 metres / 10 yards.
All lines on the field of play must be what?
The same width.
The width of all lines on the field of the play must be no more than what?
12cm / 5 inches
The goal lines must be of the same width as what?
The goalposts and crossbar
A player who makes unauthorised marks on the field of play must be what?
Cautioned for unsporting behaviour.
(caution occurs at the next stoppage in the game if the offence occurs during play).
What is the minimum and maximum length of the touchline?
minimum 90 m (100 yds)
maximum 120 m (130 yds)
What is the minimum and maximum length of the goal line?
minimum 45 m (50 yds)
maximum 90 m (100 yds)
What is the radius of the corner arc?
1m / 1 yard.
What is distance from the goal line to the edge of the penalty area?
18 yards
What is the distance from the goal line to the edge of the goal area?
6 yards
What is the distance from the goal line to the penalty mark?
12 yards
What is the distance from the penalty mark to the edge of the penalty arc?
10 yards.
What are the specifications for legal corner flags?
No less than 5ft high, with a non-pointed top.
Can there be corner flags on the half way line?
Yes, as long as they are at least 1m away from the touchline.
Where should the technical area be in relation to the seated area and touchline?
The technical area should only extend 1 m (1 yd) on either side of the designated seated area and up to a distance of 1 m (1 yd) from the touchline.
How many people are allowed to occupy the technical area?
Depends on the competition rules.
How many people are authorised to convey tactical instructions from the technical area?
Only one.
What shape must goal posts and crossbars be?
Square, rectangular, round or elliptical.
What should the distance be between the inside of the posts?
8 yards
What should the distance be between the ground and the lower edge of the crossbar?
8ft.
What must occur if the crossbar becomes displaced or broken during play?
Play is stopped until it has been repaired or replaced in position. If it cannot be repaired the match must be abandoned. Play is restarted with a dropped ball.
