Lateral Cephs Revision Questions Flashcards
What should the frankfort plane be
Horizontal
Mid sagittal plane
Vertical and parallel ro casette - xrays beam perpendicular to patients sagittal plane, sagittal plane parallel to film, teeth in ICP
Inter orbital/pupiallry line
Horizontal
Orbito meatal line
radiographic baseline - runs from the outer canthus of the eye to the centre of the external audiotiry meatus
Oblique lateral radiographs
the film and mid sagittal plane are not parallel
xray beam is not perpendicular to either
Why not just use CBCTS
ALARP - cone beam x20 times radiation that PAs so better for patient, safe time and effort
Less expensive for patient
Need qualification for CBCT to perform on patient
What are ghost images
second image of something in the wrong place
earrings, soft tissue, calcifications
What are ghost images always
higher due to negative vertical beam angulation
horizontally projected and horizontally magnified
can interfere with diagnosis
changes in antero-posteior position
radiopaque (white) - caused by dense objects
What is the safety controlled area
Controlled area where no one is standing while the xray is being taken
Intral orals - 1.5mm (2mm where workers stand)
CBCT - entire room controlled
