How was religion during the late middle ages?
If you weren’t Catholic then you weren’t part of the community. Only Catholic Churches existed
How were the responses to the plague (authorities)?
Church : the clergy cared for the sick and buried the dead
Kingdom: quarantine was used. (disease spread fast in cities. Lack of sanitation in urban areas)
What was the estimated toll due to the plague?
25 million dead,
1/3 of Europe population,
1/2 of Asian population

Climate change causes poor harvests leading to starvation in Europe

The pope couldn’t resist Frances power and is forced to move to avignon (the church weakens)

Two popes are named eventually 3 popes will be named at the same time (church will weaken more)
