Larynx and Laryngopharynx Flashcards
What comprises the Laryngeal skeleton?
Hyoid skeleton, thyroid and cricoid cartilage
What are the particular aspects of the Arytenoid Cartilage?
Vocal and muscular proceses for abduction/adduction and sliding in and out
What Muscles are within the laynx
- Cricoarytenoid ○ Lateral ○ Posterior § Abduction - Arytenoid ○ Oblique and Transverse for sliding of the arytenoid - Cricothyroid ○ Lengthens the vocal cord - Vocalis and Thyroarytenoid
What attaches to the vocal process and the posterior thyroid cartilage?
The vocal ligaments
Open or closed cartilage
Cricoid is closed while the thyroid is open
What produces phonation
Movement of air through the vocal ligaments and changing openings
Innervation of the Larynx
Above
Superior
Internal laryngeal for membranes and mucosa
External larengeal for cricothyroid muscles
Below
Recurrent laryngeal nerve for muscles of the larnyx
Blood supply
Superior and Inferior Thyroid vessels
Swallowing
Epiglottis over laryngeal inlet and the thyroid cartilage moves up as the food moves down into the eosophagus
Innervation of Laryngopharynx
All CNX except stylopharyngeus which is CNIX
