Large Vessels Flashcards
Describe and Locate the different major branches of the abdominal aorta
Coeliac Trunk, Superior and Inferior mesenteric arteries, renal arteries and common iliac arteries
Describe the Thoracic aorta and locate the vessels
LEFT Subclavian artery, LEFT common corotid artery and the Brachiocephalic
how can you tell the brachiocephalic artery apart
is bifurcates ( divides into 2 branches the right subclavian artery and right common corotid artery) straight from the transverse arch
Describe the abdominal aorta and locate it
Begins at t12 vertebra and bifurcates into the common iliac arteries.
Describe the branches of the abdominal aorta in decending order and locate them
celiac trunk, left and right renal arteries, superior mesenteric artery, inferior mesenteric artery, and then the common iliac arteries
Describe the coeliac trunk
Divides into 3 main branches: common hepatic artery, left gastric artery and the splenic artery
describe and locate the superior vena carva
it bifurcates into the left and right bracheocephalic veins
describe the bracheochephalic veins
they divide into the subclavian , internal and external jugular veins
describe the blood flow from the subclavian artery
next into the axillary artery which runs underneath the clavical and alongside the scapula. then into the brachial artery down to the forearm which then goes into the ulnar and radial arteries
describe the flow of blood from the subclavian vein
into the axillary vein and the cephalic vein, then from axillary into the basilic and brachial veins. then from basilic and cephalic veins into the ulnar and radial veins respectively.
describe the flow of blood from the common iliac arteries
into the external iliac arteries into the femoral arteries then into the popliteal arteries then into posterior and anterior tibial arteries and then fibular artery
where are the typically measure pules points and locate them
common corotid, radial artery,m femoral artery and dorsalis pedis artery
