Lap/Arthroscopy Instruments Flashcards
Antifog Foam Pad: There is an adhesive bottom that will attach to things like the drapes and you can then use the bad to inhibit condensation and clouding on surgical cameras
Insufflation Tubing: CO2 Tubing: used to expand the stomach with CO2 during laparoscopic surgeries
Suction Irrigator: provides controlled power irrigation in open surgical sites and laparoscopic sites
Veress Needle: It is the oldest technique used to gain laparoscopic access by percutaneous insertion into the peritoneal cavity for insufflation
Laparoscope: Endoscope: allows for easy visualization
Trocar and Cannula: trocars are pen-shaped and usually lodged in a hollow tube called the cannula: they can be used to great the incisions in the abdomen to allow access for the cameras or robotic arms as well as expel gas
Harmonic Scalpel: Cuts and coagulates tissues simultaneously using high-frequency ultrasonic vibrations
Laparoscopic Clip Applier: ligation of blood vessels
Fiber Optic Light Cord: attaches to the camera: will help illuminate the surgical field in laparoscopic cases
Endoscopic Camera: always ensure the camera is white balanced: attached to the scope and is used for visualization of body cavities and hollow organs
