Language Production Flashcards
What is conceptualization stage?
The stage for determining what intentions will be conveyed
What is formulation stage?
The stage for determining what should be used and how to express the intention that conceptualized
What is the articulation stage?
The stage for conveying intentions formed in the form of utterance and expressions
What is Linguistic competence?
Knowledge possessed by a person so they can formulate and determine the meaning or message to be conveyed before speaking
Explain the three components of linguistic competence
- Semantical knowledge: knowledge of word and expression meaning
- Morphological knowledge: knowledge of languages’ rules and how to construct words and sentence
- Phonological knowledge: knowledge of sound or in simpler terms how to pronounce words
What is semantical macro planning?
Semantical macro planning is broadly planning overall speech acts to express concepts in our mind effectively. this include the goal, general structure, general content and context
What is semantical micro planning?
Semantical micro planning is the detailed constructing the details of the speech acts. this include choice of words, information that will be included, and sentence structure
What are three parts responsible for language production?
Wernicke’s area (determining concepts, sentence structure and choose appropriate words)
Broca’s area (articulation stage happen here)
Angular Gyrus’s area (receiving language)
What is language production?
Language production is achieve by three process which is conceptualization, formulation and articulation. Language production encompasses the processes involved in generating spoken or written language. This includes selecting words, constructing sentences, and articulating sounds.
What is language perception?
