Whorfian hypothesis
The structure of language determines how we conceptualize the world.
Evidence against Whorfian hypothesis
Color perception. Some countries may have many different names for colors, some may have little, but they can still distinguish between colors.

Verb-friendly languages
Japanese, Korean
Theory of mind
Ability to understand that other people have mental lives which guide their actions.
Noun-friendly Language
e.g. English - more advanced ability to categorize objects.
False-believe task
used to examine theory of mind (child’s ability to construct people in terms of internal mental states such as their beliefs).
