Thorax
Cranial: Thoracic Inlet
Caudal: Half way between xiphoid and last rib
Comments: Center just behind the scapula
Abdomen
Cranial: 3-4 fingers width cranial to the xiphoid
Caudal: Greater trochanter
Comments: Large breed dogs will need CR and CD views
Long Bones
Cranial: Proximal joint
Caudal: Distal joint
Comments: Lateral and CR/CD, center mid shaft
Joints
Cranial: 1/2 proximal long bone
Caudal: 1/2 distal long bone
Comments: Center on the joint
Skull
Cranial: Nose
Caudal: First cervical vertebrae
Comments: Lateral, DV, Obliques and possible open mouth VD
VD Pelvis- Hip
Dysplasia- OFA
Cranial: Wing of ilium
Caudal: Stifle
Comments: Extended leg VD
Routine Pelvis
Cranial: Wing of ilium
Caudal: Ischium
Comments: Lateral and extended leg VD (Frog legged VD if fractured)
Thoracic Spine
Cranial: Thoracic inlet
Caudal: 13 TH rib
Comments: Cone down on spine
T-L Junction
Cranial: Approximately T-10
Caudal: Approximately L-3
Comments: Center 1/2 way between xiphoid and last rib, cone down.
Lumbar Spine
Cranial: Half way between xiphoid and last rib
Caudal: Half way between ilium and greater trochanter
Comments: Cone down on spine
Cervical Spine
Cranial: Occipital protuberance
Caudal: Center of the spine of scapula
Comments: Front legs pulled caudal, cone down.
TPLO
Cranial: Distal femur
Caudal: Proximal metatarsus
Comments: Lateral femur, tibia and tarsus at 90 degree angles.
CR/CD with patella centered on straight leg.
Stifle
Cranial: Distal femur
Caudal: Proximal Tibia-Fibula
Comments: Lateral and CR/CD.
Center on stifle joint.
Antebrachium
Cranial: Distal Humerus
Caudal: Proximal Metacarpus
Comments: Center mid-radius.
Lateral and CR/CD (make sure humerus/radius are in straight line with olecranon on CR/CD)
Elbow
Cranial: Distal Humerus
Caudal: Proximal Radius/Ulna
Comments: Flexed and relaxed lateral, CR/CD, centered on elbow.
