Q

Light or white marks

A
Caused by (Unexposed film):
-Fixer or water splash
  • Dirt or debris on intensifying screen (sharp margins)
  • Fingerprints
  • Localized areas of no development due to air bubbles on film during processing, “air bells”
  • Kissing marks from films touching during development
  • Emulsion scratches
  • Foreign objects on patient or table (margins blurred)

16
Q

Radiographs is “too dark”

A

Caused by:
-Film overexposed due to incorrect machine settings

  • Film overexposed due to tube cassette distance too short
  • Film overexposed due to improper measurement of body part to be radiographed
  • Could be double exposure
17
Q

Film overexposed due to incorrect machine settings

A

Lower kVp

18
Q

Film overexposed due to tube cassette distance too short

A

Increase tube cassette distance

19
Q

Film overexposed due to improper measurement of body part to be radiographed

A

Recheck measurement

20
Q

Could be double exposure

A

Change cassette between shots

21
Q

Radiograph is “too light”

A

Caused by:
-Film underexposed due to incorrect machine settings

  • Film underexposed due to tube cassette distance too long
  • Film underexposed due to improper measurement of body part to be radiographed
22
Q

Film underexposed due to incorrect machine settings

A

Increase kVp

23
Q

A

Decrease tube cassette distance

24
Q

Film underexposed due to improper measurement of body part to be radiographed

A

Recheck measurement

25
Q

Radiograph is blurry

A

Caused by:
-Patient moving

Fix it by:
-Decrease time (increase mA) or sedate patient
