Landing Gear, Hydraulics, and Brakes Flashcards
How is Nose wheel connected to Airframe ?
No steering linkage. Steel Tube, to hydraulic OLEO shock absorbing strut.
What is the main gear constructed of ?
Composite.
List the components of the Braking system.
1) Single disk brake assembly.
2) reservoir
3) toe brakes (each with its own master cylinder)
Describe the brake hydraulic plumbing.
Plumbed in series. Copilot then pilot. Pilot braking the hardest is what’s delivered to the wheels.
Describe the wheel-brake assembly ?
1) Caliper
2) 2 brake pads
3) Single rotating brake disc.
What are limitations when towing via nose strut ?
< 15 mph and < 45 degree turns don’t use prop
How does the parking brake work ?
Locks in the hydraulic pressure to the calipers.
How do brake temp indicators work ?
Temp sensor on caliper connects to EAU to provide CAS warnings: Yellow 270-293 degrees or RED > 293
What is nose wheel Shimmy ?
Improper Tire Pressure (30-35 psi) or Torque on spindle nut.
Describe process if no/spongy brakes airborne ?
1) Declare emergency.
2) Select longest runway.
3) Land to same side as softest brake.
4) Aerodynamic braking.
