Electrical Flashcards
What voltage is the SR series electrical system ?
28 volt
How many power sources are there ?
5
2 Alternators
2 Batteries
1 external plug
Where is BAT2 located ?
Aft. Under CAPS.
Where is BAT1 located ?
passenger side front. behind firewall.
What is the primary source of electrical power ?
2 engine driven alternators.
What is power output of ALT 2 ?
28.75 volts. 70 AMP
What is the power output of ALT1 ?
28 Volt. 100 AMP
Where is ALT 1 Mounted ?
Front right of the engine.
How is ALT 1 driven in SR20 and SR22 ?
SR20 Belt Driven. SR22 Gear Driven.
How is ALT 2 driven in SR20 and SR22 ?
Belt Driven in both.
Where is ALT 2 mounted ?
Front Left of engine.
What converts ALT output to DC Power ?
Internal Rectifier converts AC to DC.
What are details of BAT1 ?
24 volt 10 Amp hour Lead Acid. Supplies power to starter.
What are details of BAT2 ?
Two 12 volt 7 Amp hour batteries in series. Total of 7 Amp hours when fully charged.
What are the brains of the power system ?
Master Control Unit (MCU). Behind the external plug.
What Bus does BAT2 power ?
Essential Bus 1 and Essential Bus 2.
What does Essential BUS 1 power ?
All the "1's": PFD ADAHRS 1 GPS Nav 1 COM 1 Engine Instruments.
What does Essential BUS 2 Power ?
Ice Protection 2
Stall Warning
Roll Trim
Pitch Trim
What BUS does BAT1 Power ?
Main Distribution BUS. Constant Power.
What does Main Distribution BUS power ?
CAPS
ELT
Convenience Lights.
What are the limits of Alternators ?
Not self starting. Require power to start generating. IF BATTERIES are DEAD, won’t be able to get the alternators back online.
Why keep the Avionics switch off during startup ?
1) sensitive ICs to voltage/current spikes
2) Allows more power to starter
What is function of MCU ?
Manages/Distributes Power to Systems.
Controls Both ALTS, Starter, Landing Light, and external power.
Contains voltage regulators for alternators.
