Landing Gear and Brakes Flashcards
How are the main wheel brakes
Controlled and actuated
Electrically controlled via
Brake by wire system
Hydraulically actuated from
accumulators
How is excessive air pressure due
to heat build up in main
wheel / tire assembly released
Four heat sensitive fuse plugs
How are the gear doors normally
actuated
Hydraulically by system 3
How are the gear doors closed on the
ground
Landing gear release handle returned to
its normal position
Hydraulic system 3 pressure applied
nose gear fwd door via button
adjacent to nose gear
When is
“TOO LOW GEAR”
sounded
Any gear not down and locked and
radio altimeter <500, and <190 kts
When is gear warning mute disabled
Below 500 AGL and 190 kts
functional radio altimeter
flaps full down
note:
mute button works with one engine inop
What happens when
you pull the LG manual
release handle
Mechanically releases
gear doors and
gear up locks
Closes shutoff valves
to prevent hydraulic pressure
from operating the gear
opens bypass valves to allow
fluid to return to the reservoir
Note:
nose wheel is in free
caster mode
How is nose wheel steering controlled
and actuated
Electrically controlled
Hydraulically actuated ( system 3 )
What are the nose wheel steering limits
Rudder +/- 7.5 degrees
Tiller +/- 75 degrees
note:
inputs are summed but not to exceed 75 deg.
How are break wear indicators checked
Parking brake applied with
hyd. syst. 3 pessurized or
Hydraulic systems 2 and 3 pressurized
while pressing on toe brakes
Which hydraulic systems operate
the brake system
Hydraulic system 2 ( outboard brakes )
Hydraulic system 3 ( inboard breaks )
Hydraulic system 3 ( parking, emer brake )
If selected on, under what conditions
will the auto brakes apply
Both MLG indicators WOW for 5 seconds
or wheel spin up
Ground spoilers are commanded to deploy
