Becuase most roads and local rail routes meet here.
What does accessibility mean?
It is a certain place which can be easily approached or reached.
Why are land costs the highest in the CBD?
The land is in short supply and there’s a lot of competition for land.
Why do land values decrease away from the city centre?
There is more land available and accessibility ir reduced.
What is meant by the term land values?
The measure of how much a plot of land is worth depending on its location.
Why are most shops and offices found in the CBD?
They need to be accessible to as many people as possible they’re also found in high rise buildings so land costs are cheaper
Why are some shops and offices moving to the outskirts of cities?
The land is cheaper and more people are living in the suburbs of urban areas.
What is meant by the term distance decay?
Geographical term which describes the effect of distance on cultural of special interactions
Places on the edge of a city are accessible for who?
Local people but not to those who live on the opposite side of that urban area.
