Land Features: contour lines Flashcards
Contour lines join points equal (elevation, landing).
elevation
On sectionals, basic contour lines are spaced at (500’, 200’) intercals
Intermediate contours are typically at (250’, 300’) intervals in moderately level or gently rolling areas.
Auxiliary contours at (25’, 50’), (100’, 130’), (125’, 135’), or (150’, 175’) intervals occasionally show smaller relief features in areas of relatively low relief.
50, 100, 125, 150
The (number, pattern) of these contour lines and their spacing gives the pilot a visual concept of the (air, terrain).
pattern; terrain
Widely spaced contours represent (gentle, steep) slops, while closely spaced contours represent (gentle, steep) slopes.
gentle; steep
