LAN Switching Technologies Flashcards
The Bridge ID is a Combination of which two elements?
Bridge Priority and Bridge MAC
Switched packets will be dealt with in what ways
Flooded, Forwarded
What are the STP Cost for the following Line speeds? 10Mbits 100Mbits 1000Mbits 2000Mbits 10000Mbits
10Mbits 100 100Mbits 19 1000Mbits 4 2000Mbits 3 10000Mbits 2
What are the Default RSTP Cost for the following Line speeds? 10Mbits 100Mbits 1000Mbits 2000Mbits 10000Mbits
10Mbits 2000000 100Mbits 200000 1000Mbits 20000 2000Mbits 10000 10000Mbits 2000
Which is STP and which is RSTP
- 1D
- 1W
STP 802.1D
RSTP 802.1W
Why would a STP path over three 1 Gbps links be better than a single hop over a 100Mbps?
The STP cost of 100Mbps link is 19, where as 1Gbps link cost 4.
3 x 14 = 12 which is less than 19.
So the port via the 1Gbps will be set to the forwarding state.
Using Command
show interface port-channel
What column is used to indicate the physical interface in the bundle that will be used for the specific flow of traffic?
Of Index, Load, Port, EC State and No of Bits, It is the Load column that is used.
Which Redundant mode for Supervisor Engine modules exhibits all of the following characteristics?
Static routes are maintained during a switchover
The FIB is cleared during switchover
Dynamic Route information is cleared during a switchover
Route engine is initialised and switch modules are loaded
RPR+ route processing redundancy plus
What does NSF stand for?
Non Stop Forwarding
What does SSO stand for?
Stateful Switchover
What does RPR stand for?
route processing redundancy
What does RPR+ stand for?
route processing redundancy plus
What technology can be used to reduce broadcast traffic on a network with multiple VLAN’s but a specific VLAN is not operational on all switches?
VTP pruning
Allows switches to dynamically delete or add VLANs to trunks base on active ports connected to user machines.
