Where is Lagos located
Nigeria which is in West Africa on the Atlantic ocean. Lagos is in southern Nigeria
Why is Lagos important to Nigeria ?
It makes up 80% of its secondary industry, It is the home of many TNC’s

Why is life for poorer communities so harmful
They often live in slums which are located near waste, they do not have access to waste disposal, they use generators that produce harmful gasses, cannot afford private water supply and are often forced to drink contaminated water
Why may top down schemes not necessarily benefit communities
Government will not implement schemes for communities if it is not to their mutual benefit
What are top down schemes ?
Large scale projects by governments which work to benefit both government and communities, often very expensive
What are bottom up schemes ?
Small scale projects run by communities and NGO’s, focused on benefiting the poorer communities, often cheap but effective
