Laboratory 9 Flashcards
In this laboratory, we will use a ____ impression material.
polyvinylsiloxane
Brush a thin layer of ____ adhesive onto the tray and allow it to ____ dry for ____ minutes.

Prior to impression making, you will place retraction cord. Pre-clinically, you will be using the single cord technique. In the single cord technique, the retraction cord is ____ and then, ____ prior to the impression. Using the cord packer, place ____ retraction cord around #19. Wrap around the entire preparation once and cut off ! any excess with a sharp scissors. Clinically, observe that once packed, the gingival tissue is not ____ the tooth preparation in any region. If it is, you may need to ! wrap it around the tooth again. The cord should be placed evenly around the tooth. It must be done very carefully as to not cause ____ gingival damage.

Pre-clinically, NEATLY block out interdental spaces of anterior teeth #22-#27 with ! beading wax. Be certain the beading wax does not extend onto the ____ !surfaces of the teeth or buccally or lingually. Use the minimum amount needed to completely block out the undercuts. This will enable the impression to be removed more easily. Clinically, dry the field and place cotton rolls. Clinically, if there are significant ____s, these areas may also be blocked out with ____.

Take the ____ cartridge and place it into the impression gun. Remove the cap and express some impression material out to ensure that both the base and catalyst are coming out of the cartridge evenly. Place a mixing tip at the end of the light body cartridge, which is loaded on the gun. (Once mixed, the light body will be loaded into the elastomeric syringe.)

Once you have gone circumferentially around the sulcus and covered the prepared tooth, express a line of impression material with the syringe tip onto the ____ surface of the remaining teeth.

Seat the impression tray with the heavy-bodied material onto the Dentoform. Retain the impression in position undisturbed until it is set. It sets more promptly in the ! ____ than on the bench. Allow at least ____ minutes from the beginning of mixing.

The tray is now removed from the Dentoform. The resulting impression is examined for voids, tears or other imperfections. Do NOT ____ the impression with a scissors or scalpel blade. If there is gross excess, you can carefully trim it with a sharp scalpel. (Figure 9-2)
