Laboratory 12 Flashcards

1
Q

! In this laboratory exercise, you will be fabricating a provisional restoration on #7 and #9 using the ____ technique with the ____ you fabricated in Laboratory #11. If the PVS matrix was not fabricated prior to tooth preparation, you must fabricate the matrix on the stone cast before proceeding. You will be utilizing a composite resin material (Integrity) to fabricate the provisional restoration.

Q
  1. The provisional restoration should adequately reproduce ____.
  2. The margins of the provisional restoration should be ____.
  3. The provisional restoration should have adequate ____. Check with unwaxed dental floss and see that no light passes through them.
  4. The provisional restoration should have ____ with ideal occlusal contacts. The provisional restoration should not be in hyperocclusion or infraocclusion.
  5. The provisional restoration should be ____ to prevent plaque accumulation and/or patient discomfort.

Place the PVS matrix over the teeth and check for stability. If stable, remove the matrix and lubricate the prepared tooth #9 and the adjacent teeth with a light, even coat of Vaseline. Also, lubricate the adjacent ____. DO NOT LUBRICATE THE PVS SHELL AS THIS WILL RESULT IN ____.

Q
  1. Remove the matrix with the provisional from the dentoform during the firm elastic stage. Monitor the curing process carefully because removal of the provisional restoration is only possible during the ____ phase. If the provisional remains on the preparation when the PVS shell is removed, gently tease it off with gauze. Use ____ only and dislodge along the path of insertion. Do not rock or torque the restoration off the preparation. Also, try to avoid the use of hemostats or crown removal pliers that may distort the provisional while it’s setting. At this elastic phase, gross excess may be quickly trimmed with sharp scissors. Be careful not to distort the provisional or margins.
