Lab1 and 2 muscles Flashcards
Deltoid
Axillary from posterior of brachial plexus, posterior circumflex humeral, abducts arm, medially and laterally rotates arm. Flexes and extends arm
Latissimus Dorsi
Thoracodorsal from posterior of brachial plexus, thoracodorsal artery, extends arm, medially rotates arm
Levator scapulae
Dorsal scapular nerve, dorsal scapular artery, elevates scapula
triceps brachii
radial nerve, deep brachial artery, extends forearm, longhead adducts and extends arm
rhomboideus major
dorsal scapular nerve, dorsal scapular artery, retract, elevate and rotate scapula
rhomboideus minor
dorsal scapular nerve, dorsal scapular artery, retract, elevate and rotate scapula
serrates posterior inferior
ventral primary rami of spinal nerve T9-T12, intercostal and subcostal arteries, depress lower ribs
serrates posterior superior
ventral primary rami of spinal nerves T2-T5, posterior intercostal artery, elevates upper ribs
teres major
lower subcapular nerve (posterior cord of b. plexus), circumflex scapular artery, adducts arm, medially rotates arm, assist in arm extension
teres minor
axillary nerve (posterior cord of b. plexus), circumflex scapular artery, laterally rotates arm
trapezius
spinal accessory nerve (C3 and C4 nerves), transverse cervical artery, Rotates, elevates (superior part), retracts (middle part), and depresses (inferior part) scapula
Erector spinae
dorsal primary rami of spinal nerve C1-S5, deep cervical artery - posterior intercostal and subcostal - lumbar artery, extends and laterally bends the trunk, neck and head
iliocostalis
dorsal primary rami of spinal nerves C4-S5, deep cervical artery - posterior intercostal and subcostal and lumbar arteries, extends and laterally bends the trunk and neck
longissimus
dorsal primary rami of spinal nerves C1-S1, deep cervical artery - posterior intercostal and subcostal and lumbar arteries, extends and laterally bends the trunk, neck and head
Spinales
primary rami of C2-L3, deep cervical artery and posterior intercostal and subcostal and lumbar arteries, extends and laterally bends trunk and neck
infraspinatus
suprascapular nerve, suprascapular artery, laterally rotates the arm
splenius capitis
dorsal primary rami C2-C6, deep cervical artery and posterior intercostal artery, extends and laterally bends the neck and head, rotates head to the same side
splenius cervicis
dorsal primary rami of C2-C6, deep cervical artery, posterior intercostal artery, extends and laterally bends neck and head, rotates head to the same side
subscapularis
upper and lower sub scapular nerves, sub scapular artery, medially rotates the arm; assists extention of the arm
supraspinatus
supra scapular nerve (from superior trunk b. plexus), supra scapular artery, abducts the arm (initiates abduction)
multifidus
dorsal primary rami of C1-L5, deep cervical artery, posterior intercostal and subcostal and lumbar arteries, extend and laterally bend trunk and neck, rotate to opposite side
rotatores
dorsal primary rami of C1-L5, deep cervcial artery, posterior intercostal and subcostal and lumbar arteries, rotates the vertebral column to the opposite side
semispinalis Capitis
posterior rami of spinal nerves, extends and laterally rotates head to opposite side
Semispinalis cervicis
posterior rami of spinal nerves, extends and laterally rotates neck to opposite side
