What is ABG?
Arterial Blood Gas
- test measures the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your blood. It also checks the acidity of your blood. This is called your acid-base balance or your pH level.

What is measured for a BUN test?
BUN levels correlate with the health of the kidneys and the effectiveness of treatments related to kidney disease or damage
What does Creatine measure?
Provides a more sensitive measure of renal damage than blood urea nitrogen levels
Used to evaluate kidney function
What does GFR measure?
GFR is a measure of how well your kidneys filter blood
A low GFR may indicate kidney disease
What does INR (international normalized ratio) measure?
Blood test that measures prothrombin time, an indication of how well the blood clots
Evaluate the effectiveness of oral anticoagulant therapy
What does PT (Prothrombin Time) measure?
Measures the time required for fibrin clot to form in a citrated plasma sample after addition of calcium ions and tissue thromboplastin (factor III)
PT tests as a first step toward diagnosing conditions including blood disorders
What does PTT (Partial Thromboplastin Time) measure?
Results show how much time it took for the blood to clot.
Blood test used to evaluate all the clotting factors of the intrinsic pathway, except platelets, by measuring the time required for formation of a fibrin clot after the addition of calcium and phospholipid emulsion to a plasma sample.
What does sodium measure?
The levels of sodium in relation to amount of water in the body
Results may indicate if there is a sodium-water balance.
What does Potassium measure?
The level of potassium in the blood.
Results may indicate potassium deficiency; monitor the ECG, urine output, serum potassium levels frequently during infusion.
What does Hgb measure?
The level of hemoglobin in 100 mL (1 dL) of whole blood
What does WBC measure?
Part of a complete blood count that indicates the number of white blood cells in a microliter of whole blood
