Normal values for Hemoglobin (Hgb)
Men: 14-17 gm/dL
Women: 12-16 gm/dL
APTA Guideline for Hgb
< 8 gm/dL = essential daily activities
>8 gm/dL = ambulation and self care as tolerated
Hematocrit normal values
Men: 39-49%
Women: 35-45%
Hematocrit APTA Guidelines
<25% Essential daily activities of living
25%-35% = light aerobics and light weights (1-2 lbs)
35% = ambulation and self care as tolerated
Normal value for PaO2
> 80 mmHg
APTA Guideline for PaO2
No PT intervention with PaO2 < 60 mmHg
Glucose normal values
80-120 mg/dL
Glucose APTA guideline
No PT for patient’s with glucose levels < 70 mg/dL or >300 mg/dL
Potassium normal values
3.5-5.0 mEq/L
What should you watch for if potassium values are high?
Watch telemetry for arrythmias
