Monocotyledons (Monocots)
Including grasses e.g. corn (have a single cotyledon or one seed leaf)
Dicotyledons (Dicot)
Including legumes e.g. soybean (have two cotyledons or two seed leaves)
Stamen
Male component of the flower. Consist of an anther (produce pollens that contain sperms) and filament
Pistil
Female reproductive portion of the flower. Composed of the stigma, style and ovary (contains ovules which contain an egg)
Petals
Showy modified leaves (attracting pollinators, protection)
Sepals
Green leaf-like structures
Complete Flower
Composed of all 4 parts
Incomplete Flower
Lack of one or more of the flower parts
Incomplete : Perfect Flowers
Have both stamens and pistils
Imperfect Flowers
Incomplete flowers that lack either the stamen or pistil
Dioecious Plants
Have separate male and female plants (e.g. hemps)
Fruits
The ovary of a plant is the enlarged, basal portion of the pistil. The fruit is a mature fertilized ovary containing the seed or seeds
