Lab Final - Views Flashcards
Mandibular pre-molars and molars
Animal Position: Lateral with the affected side up
Film position: Intraoral, pushed far into the mouth and tucked alongside the tongue
Angle: Parallel angle
Barium VD
Animal position: Dorsal
Measure: 2 finger widths caudal to the 13th rib
Borders: T7 to femoral head
Notes: ensure the spine and sternum are superimposed
PennHIP Extended
Animal position: Dorsal with hind legs pulled caudally and rotated medially
Measure: over acetabula
Notes: femurs are extended, parallel and symmetrical
Maxillary Pre-molars and molars
Animal position: Ventral
Film position: intraoral, pushed far into mouth alongside the tongue
Angle: Bisecting angle and SLOB if the tooth is 3-rooted
Mandibular incisors
Patient position: Dorsal
Film position: Intraoral, rostral end, parallel to hard palate
Angle: Bisecting angle
Mandibular canines
Patient position: dorsal
Film position: intra oral, rostral end, parallel to hard palate
Angle: bisecting angle, centered on Incisor #3
Maxillary canines
Patient position: ventral
Film position: Intraoral, rostral end, parallel to hard palate
Angle: bisecting angle, centered on Incisor #3
Barium Lateral
Animal position: Lateral
Measure: 2 finger widths caudal to the 13th rib
Borders: T7 to Femoral head
Notes: ensure transverse vertebrae are superimposed
Maxillary incisors
Patient position: Ventral
Film position: Intraoral, rostral end, parallel to hard palate
Angle: bisecting angle
PennHIP Distraction
Animal position: Dorsal. Hind legs are held up so that the tibias are parallel to the table. Stifles are parallel to each other. Femurs are parallel to each other, but perpendicular to the table.
Measure: Over acetabula
Notes: Distractor rods are spread approximately the same distance as the femoral heads and placed within them. The legs are rotated medially
PennHIP Compression
Animal position: Dorsal. Hind legs are held up so tibias are parallel to the table. Stifles are parallel to each other. Femurs are parallel to each other, but perpendicular to the table. Legs are pulled slightly apart.
Measure: Over acetabula
Notes: Weight is applied to each side to put pressure on the greater trochanters
