mnemonic devise for type of innervation each cranial nerve provides (Sensory, Motor, Both)
Some Say Marry Money But My Brother Says Big Brains Matter Most
what does olfactory nerve I innervate?
sensory for smell
what does optic nerve II innervate?
sensory for sight
what does oculomotor nerve III innervate?
motor for 4 of 6 extrinsic muscles of the eye; parasympathetic to sphincter of pupil and ciliary muscle of lens
what does trochlear nerve IV innervate?
motor for SO eye muscle
what does opthalmic nerve V1 innervate?
sensory to cornea, nasal mucosa, lacrimal gland, skin of anterior scalp, upper eyelid and nose
what does maxillary nerve V2 innervate?
sensory to skin of face, oral cavity and upper teeth
what does mandibular nerve V3 innervate?
sensory to skin of lower face, lower teeth, and general sensation to anterior 2/3 of tongue; motor to muscles of mastication
what does abducens nerve VI innervate?
motor to LR muscle of eye
what does facial nerve VII innervate?
motor to muscles of facial expression; sensory to anterior 2/3 of tongue for taste; parasympathetic to lacrimal, mandibular and sublingual glands
what does vestibulocochlear nerve VIII innervate?
sensory for equilibrium and hearing
what does glossopharyngeal nerve IX innervate?
sensory to pharynx and posterior 1/3 of tongue; motor to stylopharyngeus muscle; parasympathetic to parotid gland
what does vagus nerve X innervate?
