Patient C has Rheumatoid Arthritis and her symptoms have worsened over the years. Wonders if more aggressive drug therapy=needed. Her physical exam showed more swelling and tenderness in joints, CRP test was ordered to see levels of inflammation
what is CRP?
C-reactive proteins
-important in showing presence of inflammation)
if you have high levels of CRP, what does this mean? if you have low levels?
-if high, body/joints are inflamed

how does the CRP test work?
-the beads in the test are coated with anti-CRP antibodies for the cells to attach to
-(this is what makes the quick reaction visible)
what is the difference between a positive reaction and a negative reaction?
-positive looks like little snowflakes
-negative looks like a cloudy solution
