Lab 3 [Heart] Flashcards
On the actual sheep heart, whats the names of the 3 vena cave from left to right?
Left Anterior VC.
Posterior VC
Right VC
Human superior = sheep _____
Anterior
Human anterior / ventral is sheep _____
Ventral
5 ways to tell if ventral
Apex Creamy fibres Angle of sulcus Curved Auricles point ventrally (dog ears)
3 ways to tell if dorsal view
Floppy purple veins
Vertical sulcus
Flat curvature
What is the ligamentum arteriosum?
Fiborous bridge linking the pul trunk to the aorta
How do you tell the left ventricle apart from the right ventricle
LV has trabeculae muscles which are like camel humps, and papillary muscles which are like bigger humps in the opening
What is the moderator band? Where + function?
Across right ventricle from wall to wall. Colour and texture show that it’s made of muscle not CT. Contains purkinje Fibres. Gets them ‘ready.’
What does the aortic valve look like?
It has coronary ostea in the LV aortic valve where O2 rich blood falls into.
Where are the cardiac veins? Function?
Small tiny openings that drain into the right atrium. DeO2 from heart to RA.
What is the oval shaped translucent membrane in fetal and humans? Where is it found?
Foramen ovale fetal
Fossa ovalis adult
Interventricular septum between atriums
Describe blood flow prenatal
From mum goes through systemic capillaries into right atrium, through right ventricle, pul. Trunk and ductus arteriosus. Some also went through to the lungs and aorta.
Describe blood flow postnatal
DeO2 from systemic to RIGHTS to lungs. O2 from lungs to LEFTS to systemic again.
Describe where the pul trunk and aorta are on your drawing and the bridge between them
Aorta has 2 openings
Brachiocephalic branch (arms and head).
Pulmonary trunk beside it on the ‘left’
Bridge is ligamentum arteriosum (former ductus arteriosus)
Coronary sinus
Collection of veins that carry DeO2 from heart to RA
