What is a domain?
Life forms that are grouped into broad categories are called domains.
What are the three domains of life?
Bacteria, Archaea and Eukarya.
What is “taxa”
Levels where living organisms are organized.
What order does the taxon levels go in?
Supergroup, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species
What is Binomial nomenclature?
It refers to the use of two words in naming organisms. The first word refers to the genus (Capitalized) and the second refers to the species (lower case). It should always be italicized or underlined.
What is a phenogram?
A construction of organisms that are most similar grouped together by drawing a bracket connecting them.
What is a dichotomous key?
Like a phenogram but separates organisms into groups based on differences in certain characteristics, presenting two contrasting features of organisms leading from general to more specific.
