Lab 2 Flashcards

Tibialis Anterior
(Most medial of anterior leg. Long, crosses the tibia.

Extensor Hallucis Longus
(Between tibialis anterior and extensor digitorum longus. Goes straight to big toe.)

Extensor Digitorum Longus
(Lateral to extensor hallucis longus. 1 tendon that splits into 4 to insert into toes.)

Fibularis Tertius
(Most lateral of anterior group. Inserts at metatarsal 5.)

Fibularis Longus
(Most lateral muscle of lower leg. Origin at upper fibula. Runs down leg and then to underside of foot.)

Fibularis Brevis
(Lateral leg. Deep to fibularis longus, tendon does not go as far.)

Gastrocnemius

Soleus
(Deep to gastrocnemeus, typically longer and wider.)

Tibialis Posterior (Tom)
(Closest to medial malleolus.)
(On the posterior leg, in the middle of flexor halliucis longus and flexor digitorum longus.)

Flexor Digitorum Longus (Dick)
(Second closest to medial malleolus.)
(Most medial on posterior leg.)

Flexor Hallucis Longus (Harry)
(Third closest to medial malleolus.)
(Most lateral on posterior leg.)

Tibial Nerve and Posterior Tibial Artery
(Between Dick and Harry)

Abductor Digiti Minimi
(most lateral.)

Flexor Digitorum Brevis
(Just deep to plantar aponeurosis, and superficial to tendons of flexor digitorum longus.)

Flexor Digitorum Longis Tendons
(Deep to brevis. Note attached quadratus plantae.)

Quadratus Plantae
(Inserts into tendons and flexor digitorum longus.)

Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon
(Thick tendon to hallux on plantar foot.)

Medial Plantar Nerve
(Splits from tibial nerve.)

Extensor Digitorum Brevis
(Deep to longus, origin on doral calcaneus.)

Extensor Hallucis Brevis
(Also deep. Tendon is smaller than the longus.)

Flexor Retinaculum
(Around ankle.)

Extensor Retinaculum
(Around shin.)

Abductor Hallucis
(Most medial, inserts on medial side of hallux.)

Flexor Hallucis Brevis
(Very deep. Has 2 heads, one on each side of the flexor hallucis longus tendon.)

Dorsal Pedal Artery
(Only artery tested on dorsal foot.)

Anterior Cruciate Ligament

Posterior Cruciate Ligament

Lateral Collateral Ligament

Medial Collateral Ligament

Menisci
(Medial and Lateral.)

Patellar Ligament
