Lab 1 Flashcards

Gluteus Maximus

Gluteus Medius

Gluteus Minimus

Piriformis
(note Sciatic Nerve exiting below)

Obturator Internus
(thin, white, in between superior and inferior gemelli)

Superior and Inferior Gemelli

Quadratus Femoris
(most inferior of rotators. Larger, square-like.)

Sciatic Nerve
(Exits below piriformis. Continues as Sciatic Nerve until branching to Common Fibular and Tibial nerves.)

Sacrotuberous Ligament
(sacrum to ischial tuberosity)

Semimembranosus
(Medial and a bit deep to semitendinosus. Not as long, shorter tendon, typically fatter.)

Semitendinosus
(Longer, with longer tendon. Less medial than membranosus.)

Biceps Femoris, Long Head
(origin at ischial tuberosity, crosses back of leg.)

Biceps Femoris, Short Head
(mostly deep to the long head, except at the knee where they lie lateral to the long head.)

Sciatic Nerve Tibial Branch
(More medial, the tibial side.)

Sciatic Nerve Common Fibular Branch
(more lateral, the fibular side.)

Popliteal Artery and Vein
(right behind knee.)

Satorius
(Long, only one that crosses anterior thigh.)

Iliopsoas
(Becomes the iliopsoas once it crosses the inguinal ligament. In the femoral triangle, just medial to sartorius.)

Rectus Femoris
(straight up and down.)

Vastus Medialis

Vastus Lateralis

Vastus Intermedius
(deep to Rectus Femoris.)

Tensor Fascia Lata
(most lateral in superior thigh, lateral to sartorius, inserts in to IT band.)

Femoral Triangle
Boundaries: Sartorius, Inguinal Ligament, Adductor Longus.

Femoral Triangle Contents
Lateral to Medial: Femoral Nerve, Artery, Vein
Lateral Muscle in Triangle is Iliopsoas.
Great Saphenous Vein splits medially from femoral vein (not shown.)

Pectineus
(diagnoal from pubis into thigh, most superior of adductors)
superior P A G inferior

Adductor Longus
(Most superficial of longus, brevis, magnus. Just lateral to gracilis.)

Adductor Brevis
(In window between adductor longus and pectineus. Notice how it is being pulled out of window in picture.)

Adductor Magnus
(Deep to the gracilis and adductor longus. Big, deep and has distinct white tendon. Has a hiatus: femoral artery and vein pass through and exit as the popliteal artery and vein at the knee.)

Gracilis
(Most superficial of medial thigh. Long, runs along medial surface.)
