What is a consultant?
Senior doctors who specialise in particular areas
What are some examples of consultants?
-Cardiologists, psychiatrists, oncologists, paediatricians and geriatricians

- Provide more advanced treatment
- Expert advice on managing a condition
What are adult nurses and where they work?
They work with adults with conditions, usually in hospitals, GP practices and armed forces
What is a mental health nurse and where do they work?
They work with people with mental health usually in psychiatric units, residential homes, prisons and healthcare centres
What is a paediatric nurse and where do they work?
They work with children usually in hospitals or in a service users home
What is a learning disability nurse and where do they work?
They work with people with learning disabilities usually in schools, workplaces and residential homes
What is a learning disability nurse’s main role?
To maintain an individuals mental and physical health by providing support and specialist care
What is a district nurse and where do they usually work?
They work with people of all ages usually in a service users own home, residential homes
What is a neonatal nurse and where do they usually work?
They work with new born babies and premature babies usually in specialist hospital setting/neonatal ward
What is a neonatal nurse’s main role?
They work with the baby’s parents and take a practical role in the child’s life
What is a health visitor and where do they work?
They work to support families in early years of their children’s life 0-5 usually in the child’s home, GP practices and in nurseries

What is a midwife and where do they usually work?
A midwife supports pregnant women before and after birth by preparing the mother and delivering babies usually in a hospital/maternity wards and patients homes

They are known as nursing assistants and provide personal care under guidance of healthcare professionals usually in GP practices, hospitals and nursing homes
What are the main duties of a healthcare assistant?
Small procedures such as taking patients temperature and pulse, weighing patients, making beds, washing patients, serving meals and dressing patients
What is a social worker
Help and support for all ages to safeguard vulnerable people
What is the difference between adult services and childrens and young people services
Adult services work with older people and those with mental disorders or disabilities and young people services work with children at risk of harm

- visiting clients and work to make changes
- write reports and attend court cases

Work with people of all ages to promote independence
