25,000 people were peacecully demonstrating in Paris against the French colonisation of Algeria, Maurice Papon ordered the police to violently retaliate and up to 200 people were killed and thrown into the Seine

How was the massacre handled in it’s aftermath?
A
There was an attempt to erase it from records and a memorial did not go up until 50 years later
