What is the function of the umbilical cord?

A

This is a tube connected to the placenta. It carries nutrients and oxygen from the placenta to the baby and simultaneously removes harmful waste and carbon dioxide from the baby. It also prevents the mothers’ and foetus’ blood from mixing.

20
Q

What is the function of the placenta?

A

This grows as the embryo grows into a foetus. This also provides nutrients and oxygen for the baby. It also removes harmful waste and carbon dioxide from your baby. It even produces hormones to help your baby grow. It is an oval shaped organ connected to the uterine lining.

21
Q

What is the function of the amniotic fluid?

A

It cushions and protects the baby. It also keeps a steady temperature and helps the baby exercise their lungs by breathing through it.
