Why are Free Economic Zones useful for TNCs?
They allow TNCs to have cheap labour costs and to trade without being taxed. This allows TNCs to spend less on manufacturing products and to make more money when selling them.
What does the Gulf Cooperation Council (trade bloc) share?
Common tax laws, regulations and barriers, army research, scientific research agendas and shared currency.
The Gulf Cooperation Council brought in 1 million migrant workers from India. How did they accommodate them?
They stayed in accommodation camps where they had to share 1,248 rooms between 7,500 workers. The Dubai Metro also increased their working hours in 2012 to accommodate for the larger number of workers.
How has Dubai benefited as a whole from their FEZ?
Dubai has now got a new Jebel Ali Hospital. Also, their transport links have now been improved as their has now been a new highway built which has access to the new built Jebel Ali Airport.
