L6 Image Aqcuisition and Advanved Processing Flashcards
MODALITY
CR/DR, CT, MR, US, FL and MG
three types of image acquisition, single image multi image and hybrid modalities.
All modalities should have six basic functions.
They should be able to identify the patient and exam ,acquire images match images to correct patient with correct date send images to PACS and local database to store images
single image modalities
CR/DR, US
Post processing functions available such as annotations ,adjustments to window width…
multi slice modalities
CT, MR and ECG
Production of complex raw data image sets.
Separate workstation used for post processing, re-processed images archived in PACS
Hybrid Modalities
PET & 3D volumetric motion imaging
this is where two types of image acquisitions are combined.
PET combines CT MR and NM resulting in a fused image which shows high-quality anatomical detail with radioactivity emission data.
3-D volumetric motion imaging combines CT with multi angle visual light recording
MPR
multiplayer reconstructions can be completed on the workstations attached to the modality.
Typically ,axial source images with sagittal and coronal reconstructions
3D rendering
3-D rendering takes MPR a step further to remove obstructing images.
Uses Hounsfield units to separate different tissues line.
Images can be manipulated in different ways/angles.
Colour rendering for better visualisation
VESSEL analysis and colon navigation
requires advanced graphic processing capabilities.
The pipes are processed in 3-D and rendered to allow for measurements and Flythroughs ,this is available on PCS add-on
Orthopaedic templating
Orthopaedic surgeons can plan using digital images.
This requires calibration using an object of a known size which is placed in line with the relevant anatomy.
Trauma CAD used in NINIS
engineering
Modality configuration required by the vendors engineers.
Technical configurations for networking and PACS compatibility
