focuses on personality traits and impairments in personality functioning
Main aspects of the Alternative model
emotional lability: unstable emotional experience, frequent mood changes
separation insecurity: fears of rejection
risk taking: engagement in dangerous activities
Co-morbidity in BPD
BPD ofen occurs with mood disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse
Why do people develop BPD
Etiology - many factors interacting together such as:
- genes, childhood adversity
