Heating Degree Days (HDD)

A
  • Based on outside air temperature (usually daily average)
  • # of degrees that a days avg temp is below indoor temp (usually 18C)
  • energy consumption from heating and industrial fuels increases w HDD (colder the days, more energy used for heating)
