Q

One endocyctic pathway is Macropinocytosis. How does this work?

A

°Cells form actin driven ruffles which sometimes fuse to form macropinosomes

°Mechanistically similar to phagocytosis

°Non selective uptake of extracellular material

°Used by cancer cells to take up nutrients

Q

What is Clathrin-mediated endocytosis?

A

Clathrin coated pits and vesicles
Clathrin triskelia polymerise into lattices

Dynamin is required to pinch off clathrin coated vesicles
