L19: CKD staging Flashcards
Stage G1 CKD
Kidney damage with normal or increased GFR >90
Stage G2 CKD
Kidney damage with mildly decreased GFR=60-89
Stage G3A CKD
Mildly-moderately decreased GFR=45-59
Stage G3B CKD
Moderately-severely decreased GFR=30-44
Stage G4 CKD
Severely decreased GFR=15-29
Stage G5 CKD
Kidney failure, GFR <15
Stage G5D CKD
Kidney failure with dialysis
For stages 1 and 2 of CKD, since GFR is normal, how is it diagnosed?
Evidence of albuminuria
Hallmark of progressive kidney disease
Declining GFR
Stage A1 albuminuria
Normal to mildly increased
ACR<30, negative to trace protein dipstick
Stage A2 albuminuria
Moderately increased
ACR=30-300, protein dipstick trace to +1
Stage A3 albuminuria
Severely increased
ACR>300, protein dipstick >1+
Risk level: G4 or G5
red: very high risk regardless of albuminuria
Risk level: G3b+A1
orange: high risk
Risk level: G3b+A2 or A3
red: very high risk
