L14 - Artificial Intelligence applied to Data Centres Flashcards
1
Q
What did Leto say about Data Centres?
A
The factories of the 21st century
2
Q
What is a data centre?
A
A data centre is a space dedicated space, a building or a group of buildings (campus) used to house IT assets, like networks devices, servers and storage systems
- Can be underground
- in a building
- on a ship (Singapore has really high land cost and had lots of obsolete ships)
- underwater
3
Q
How much data do we need for a data centre?
A
There is no magic number:
- But a few factors can be considered
- The complexity of the model
- Training method
- Data quality
- Accuracy Requirements
- Diversity of input
- Benchmark data of problems already solved
- Availability of domain expertise
- Guesstimate
- Get as much good data as appropriate
4
Q
What can we get from data that human beings cannot do?
A
5
Q
What are the 5 uses of AI in a Data Centre?
A
6
Q
Why is cooling optimization difficult with manual or static control algorithms?
A
- Design standards provide more cooling than needed
- Airflow complexity and IT variability make it impossible to optimise manually or with static control algo
- The result is wasted energy, lost capacity and hidden thermal risk
